In an appeal for collaboration against rising insecurity, Governor Uba Sani has urged retired military generals from Southern Kaduna to utilize their extensive knowledge and skills in the fight against terrorism and banditry within the region.

Speaking during the book launch titled “Professionalism and Service to Fatherland: The Military Heroes of Southern Kaduna,” held at the Gwamna Awan Memorial Hall in Kagoro, Governor Sani expressed the pressing need for experienced veterans to contribute to ongoing peace and security efforts.

Represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, James Kanyip, Governor Sani emphasised the crucial role of retired officers in harnessing their expertise for the betterment of the state.

“The time has come for your military knowledge to be applied to our current challenges; this administration seeks your wisdom and insights in navigating these turbulent times,” he said.

Kanyip reiterated the governor’s commitment to fostering peace and promoting inclusive governance across all communities in Kaduna State, highlighting that security efforts must be devoid of divisions based on religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.

He assured that the government has prioritised security, investing heavily in enhancing security infrastructure and supporting federal security agencies in their operations.

“The fight against terror requires more than just military intervention; it is a battle for hearts and minds,” Kanyip stated. “Wisdom, peace dialogues, and community involvement are essential. Retired officers are trusted custodians of this wisdom.”

The Commissioner  encouraged retired military personnel to remain active in nation-building.

“Your uniforms may have been put away, but your duty to serve your country continues. Your extensive knowledge in military strategy remains indispensable,” he added.

Furthermore, Kanyip expressed the government’s desire to engage and collaborate with the veterans.

“Your sacrifice and dedication should not fade into silence. Instead, let it resonate in policy-making and guide us towards impactful reforms,” he urged.

Speaking on of the importance of community engagement in establishing good governance, he said “Together, we can work towards building safer communities, empowering our youth, and initiating reconciliation processes.”

Kanyip acknowledged the sacrifices made by Southern Kaduna’s armed forces. “You have given your youth, strength, and sweat to protect this nation. Now, we seek your voice and counsel,” he stated.

“To those who sacrificed their lives, we honor you; to those still serving, we hold you in our prayers; and for those who have retired, your input remains crucial. Your legacy is etched in the very fabric of our nation’s history.”

This call to action resonates amidst a backdrop of rising security concerns in Kaduna State, with government officials looking to leverage the experience and insight of retired military personnel to help combat the threats posed by terrorism and violence.
