Religious Leaders Condemn Killings in Plateau State

The Leadership and Members of the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly, NOCRELA, has condemned the killing of citizens on Palm Sunday in Angwan Rukuba, Gari Ya Waye area of Jos North Local Government Area in Jos, Plateau State Northcentral Nigeria.

The National Chairman, Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly, Archbishop John-Praise Daniel, in a statement made available to journalists said “Palm Sunday is a day that symbolizes peace, humility, and the triumph of love over hatred”.

Archbishop Daniel said that “these killings are not only an attack on individuals and families but also an assault on our shared humanity, our faith, and the collective peace of our nation”.

He stated that NOCRELA condemn this barbaric act and call on security agencies to immediately investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure that such evil does not continue to stain in our land.

The lives of Nigerians must be protected, and no community should live under the shadow of fear.” The Cleric stated.

The NOCRELA stated that it stands in solidarity with the grieving families of “the peace-loving people of Plateau State during this painful moment. Our prayers are with the bereaved families, and we ask God to grant them comfort and strengthen their faith at this difficult moment”.

The Chairman of the NOCRELA, called on “Religious Leaders, Community Leaders, and all Nigerians to reject violence, resist the forces that seek to divide us, and continue to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and unity that our faith teaches”.

In view of the gravity of this tragedy and the increasing attacks on Christian communities in Northern Nigeria, NOCRELA hereby calls for an emergency meeting of Top Christian Religious Leaders across the Northern States of Nigeria to be held in Jos next week.” He added.
