Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the by-election in the state.
The Governor’s commendation was conveyed in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
Governor Yusuf described the exercise as a significant milestone in Kano’s democratic development, noting that the calm atmosphere across polling units reflected both the political maturity of the electorate and the effectiveness of security measures deployed for the election.
He particularly appreciated voters in Kano Municipal and Ungogo State Assembly Constituencies, where the by-election was held, for their discipline, cooperation and commitment to a peaceful process.

The governor also lauded political parties and stakeholders, especially members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for adhering to electoral guidelines and refraining from actions that could have undermined the credibility of the exercise.
According to him, the poll marked a departure from past experiences.
“For the first time in recent history, we witnessed an election in Kano free of crisis, violence and manipulation. This development aligns with our Kano First Agenda. The era of killing, maiming and disenfranchising voters is over,” he stated.
Governor Yusuf noted that the peaceful conduct of the by-election demonstrates the state’s readiness to embrace issue-based politics founded on dialogue, tolerance and respect for democratic values.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Kano State, irrespective of political or religious affiliations.
The Governor pledged continued collaboration with electoral authorities and security agencies to ensure that future elections remain transparent, credible and violence-free.
