The Nigeria Police has debunked reports of gunshots aimed at its Zone 1 headquarters in Kano state by suspected terrorists on Friday, July 29, 2022.

The Spokesman of Zone 1 Command, SP Abubakar Ambursa, described the report as baseless, untrue and fake news.

“To say that there was an attack on the zone by suspected Terrorists is nothing but concocted lies by some disgruntled elements.

“12:30 pm, the purported time of the attack coincided with the time Friday prayers were being healed in the area and nobody claimed or reported to have heard any gunshot including officers at the gate of the command.

“I have been in the office since 9 am this morning and there was no report whatsoever from the gates of the zone that some persons fired gunshots

“Our men are stationed at the gate; nobody said he heard gunshots.

“Don’t forget there is a Friday Mosque in the zone, and as at the time they said some terrorists fired the shots, we had the Jummat prayers. I can not comprehend where the story is coming from,” he explained.

He added that security has been reinforced around the headquarters and other parts of the state to prevent possible attacks.
