Stakeholders in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria, have underscored the pivotal role of social media in driving the nation’s development and promoting national unity.
This perspective was emphasised during a public lecture organized by Adnan and Associates in partnership with the Professor Adamu Gwarzo Foundation, held to honour Professor Gwarzo’s remarkable contributions to humanity.
The lecture, themed “The Role of Social Media in Nation Building,” brought together social media experts and stakeholders to examine both the benefits and challenges posed by these digital platforms.
Guest lecturer and publisher of ‘PR Nigeria,’ Yusha’u Shu’aibu, highlighted how social media has transformed communication by fostering interactivity and enabling the swift dissemination of messages, thereby enhancing user engagement and promoting dialogue.
Shu’aibu stressed that the positive utilisation of social media could drive national development and strengthen unity.
“The organisers find it’s worthy to have a forum where the importance of social media can be highlighted as regards social development,” he said.
He also advocated for social media marketing strategies to boost brand visibility, increase customer engagement, and support socio-economic growth.
Adnan Mukhtar, the convener of the lecture, praised Professor Gwarzo for his mentorship and contributions to societal development.
Mukhtar stated that the event aimed to celebrate Gwarzo’s legacy, helping the public gain a deeper understanding of his impact.
He urged Nigerian youth to leverage social media responsibly to improve their socio-economic status.
