Kano State Lifts Dawn to Dusk Curfew

The Kano state government has lifted the dawn-to-dusk curfew imposed in the state following tensions generated from the announcement of the results of the governorship and state Assembly elections held on Saturday 18 March.

The State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, made the announcement in a statement issued Monday night.

the decision to lift the curfew was after careful review of the situation and the relative calm throughout the state” the statement read.

The statement called on commercial banks, public servants and the people in the state to return to their normal businesses.

The government shortly after the announcement of the Kano State Guber election result imposed the dawn to dusk curfew for security purposes.

The decision was further reinforced by the Nigerian Police in a separate statement urging inhabitants to be careful in order not to destroy properties and threaten people’s lives while celebrating the results of the election.
