The Kano State Government has restated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and associated crimes across the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesperson, Mr Sanusi Bature, made this known during a press briefing addressing the recent controversy surrounding the bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Danwawu.

Bature confirmed that the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi Dala, who was allegedly linked to the bail saga, has formally resigned from his position and withdrawn from the administration.

He stated that Governor Yusuf is currently reviewing the recommendations submitted by the investigative committee that probed the incident.

“The administration remains firmly committed to the fight against drug abuse and other societal vices, including political thuggery,” Bature said, stressing that significant resources are being deployed to safeguard lives and property, especially in crime-prone areas.

He also issued a warning to public officials, urging them to seek prior approval before engaging in any action that could affect public interest, whether in an official or private capacity.

While commending the work of the fact-finding panel, Bature announced the dissolution of the investigative committee, which was chaired by the Governor’s Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters, Barrister Aminu Hussaini.
