The Federal Teaching Hospital in Kebbi State has successfully treated and discharged over 500 cancer patients through the NANA’s Foundation initiative.

The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Aliyu Hamza Balarabe, stated this during a visit by the Kebbi State Governor’s wife, Dr. Nafisa Nasiru Idris.

Dr. Balarabe emphasized that cancer is not a death sentence, stressing the importance of early detection.

“With early detection, cancer is curable, and patients can recover fully,” he said.

He urged the public, particularly those in rural areas, to report suspected cancer cases promptly to the hospital for medical attention.

The hospital in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, has handled various cancer cases, including Breast cancer (affecting both men and women), Cervical cancer, Prostate cancer, and Throat cancer

Dr. Balarabe assured the public of the hospital’s commitment to providing thorough and quality healthcare services to all patients.

The hospital’s efforts have been supported by initiatives like the “Walk Away Cancer” campaign, which aims to raise awareness and promote early detection.
