The Kogi State’s Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Fatima Momoh has extended support to Mrs Soje Ogori, a resident of Ogori-Magongo whose home was recently gutted by fire.

Visit to the Scene and Donation of Aid

During a visit to the site of the incident on Sunday, the Commissioner provided relief materials, food supplies, and financial assistance to the affected family.

The gesture reflected the state government’s ongoing commitment to social welfare and assistance for vulnerable citizens.

Momoh stated that the intervention formed part of wider governmental efforts to “support vulnerable citizens and promote social inclusion.”

Commendation of State Leadership

While expressing her sympathy to the victim, she praised Governor Ahmed Ododo’s leadership, noting his dedication to “creating a compassionate and inclusive governance structure.”

She further acknowledged the contributions of the governor’s wife, Mrs Sefinat Ododo, applauding her “relentless efforts in advancing the welfare of women and children across the state.”

Empowering a Widow and Her Family

Representing the state government, the Commissioner presented Mrs Soje, a widow and mother of three, with a sewing machine, clothing materials, bed sheets, food items, and monetary support.

“The relief materials and food items are aimed at enabling her to restart her tailoring business and regain financial stability.

“The support provided today is not just about relief, but about empowerment.

“We want to ensure that Soje regains her independence and can continue to provide for her children.

“The government will continue to monitor her progress and offer further assistance as needed,” Momoh said.

Call for Community Collaboration

In addition, Momoh praised the resilience and unity of the women leaders in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area (LGA), encouraging them to maintain strong collaboration with the state government in efforts to uplift their communities.
