As Nigeria commemorates 65 years of independence, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering focus on infrastructure development, education and security, as a foundation for sustainable development and long-term prosperity.

In his statewide broadcast to mark the Independence Day celebration, Governor Ododo emphasised that infrastructure development is not just a policy direction for his administration, but a deliberate and strategic commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive Kogi State.

“Our administration remains steadfast in advancing the development of Kogi State through people-focused policies, infrastructural renewal, healthcare reforms, educational transformation, agricultural expansion, and improved security,” he stated.

Governor Ododo explained that infrastructural development under his administration is designed to directly impact the lives of citizens, especially those in rural and underserved communities.

“We are committed to laying foundations that will secure the future of our children,” the Governor added.

He further stated that his administration is aiming to achieve broader goals, such as enhancing security and improving education.

He highlighted the recent expansion of free basic education and complementary reforms like the AGILE programme, which provides cash transfers to support girls’ education.

These initiatives, he noted, are expected to yield long-term dividends in social development and productivity.

“Beyond physical infrastructure, the Ododo administration has intensified efforts in developing digital and institutional infrastructure to streamline governance and improve service delivery across the state.

“We are committed to laying foundations that will secure the future of our children,” Ododo reiterated, reflecting a governance philosophy anchored on legacy-building and future readiness.

While addressing recent challenges, including the tragic boat mishap in Ibaji, Governor Ododo expressed deep condolences and used the occasion to reinforce his administration’s commitment to safe and resilient infrastructure, especially in riverine areas.

“We shall not relent in making water transportation safer in our riverine communities,” he assured citizens.
