Kogi trains 1,080 Health officers For Implementation Of Basic Healthcare Fund

In view of the implementation of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) initiated by the Federal Government for the benefit of all 36 states of the federation, kogi State government has commenced the training of 1,080 healthcare workers in Lokoja, the State’s capital.

While speaking to the press, the Executive Director of Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr Abubakar Yakubu declared that the training is essential for the execution of the BHCPF in the state, adding that it is the training of trainers i.e training of those who will be in charge of the implementation of the program across all the local governments of the state.
It is worthy of note that the six-day ongoing intensive training was launched on 27th September and would end on 2nd October having a good coverage of all primary healthcare facilities across the state.

According to Dr Abubakar, facilitators were drawn from National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in collaboration with partners from WHO and UNICEF.

In his words ’’as soon as we are through with these training we are pretty certain that the implementation of BHCPC program would start in the state in earnest” ”Already we have dedicated fund on our pulse and as soon as we commence the program issues pertaining to maternal and child health, immunization of children will be taken seriously.

In the same vein, the desk officer and focal person for BHCPF in Kogi State Dr Emmanuel Bola Jonah K. indicated that the agency selected participants from health facilities across 239 wards in the State.
He emphasized that the program would make health care more affordable, prevent death and improve the health indices of the people at the grassroots.

The Executive Secretary, Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA), Dr Adekunle Aledare has lauded the governor, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for his proactiveness and willingness to improve the healthcare services of the state for the optimal benefit of the people of Kogi.

The BHCPF was launched on Monday 27th September by Ag. Permanent Secretary of the State’s Ministry of Health Mrs Diana Rose on behalf of the State Commissioner for Health Dr Saka Haruna.
