The Lawmaker representing Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency in Imo state, Kingsley Uju has called for the cancellation of the election results, while lamenting that he has be constantly harassed.
He also accused the State government under Senator Hope Uzodinma as being behind attacks and threats to his life.
While addressing Journalists in Abuja, the lawmaker said elections did not hold in some wards within his constituency, and so no results should be accepted from the areas.
He also cautioned that the nation’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to be wary of persons they recruit as Ad hoc staff members during its elections.
He equally demanded the cancellation of the election in his constituency, saying the process was full of irregularities.
“Around 10 pm of the eve of the presidential, House of Representatives and Senatorial elections, his house was invaded by truckloads of armed men who came in vehicles that included armoured personnel carriers. They took over his residence, cordoned off the entire area, and searched desperately for our candidate to murder.
“When they couldn’t get him assassinated, they visited unimaginable terror on everyone and everything in sight. They abducted his family members and political supporters and tortured even aged men and women to a pulp,” Uju said.
He also appealed to the Inspector General of Police to help stop the intimidation of his supporters in the state.
“I also want the police to investigate who led the operations against me on Friday,” he said.
Honourable Uju also urged INEC to invite the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC of Imo and other adhoc staff to explain why election results were being changed.
He appealed to Inspector General of Police, IG to caution police officers serving in Imo state to remain apolitical.
The lawmaker similarly requests the president, DG SSS and the IGP to investigate the activities of one Mr. Chikadibia Akuabata, who has been fingered in most of the attacks in the state.
“All my life as a politician, all policemen attached to VIPs are personal. Elections conducted in my constituency should be canceled as there were no elections there. Any results brought to INEC should not be accepted. INEC should be mindful of the staff they employ. As I talk to you, my family and I are not safe. My police orderly is in detention. I appeal to the IG to come to my rescue,” he said.
He added that at the moment, his ordeal was detailed.
