A member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Danjuma Shiddi has called for the rescue of democracy in Taraba State.
Shiddi said that what is happening in the state presently, has the potential to affect democratic process and the forthcoming election.
The lawmaker representing Wukari/ Ibi Federal Constituency of Taraba State also called for the release of the Director General of his campaign Council, Mr Samaila Yabubu from Police detention.
Shoddy who is also the Taraba South Senatorial candidate for the All Progressives Congress, APC, said Yabubu was arrested on alleged incitement of the public while he was addressing their supporters on the removal of his posters and the need to remain calm.
Shiddi said that the move was targeted at him and his senatorial ambition.
He stated that the bail condition given for the release of his Director General was unimaginable.
“They took him to court today and the court is demanding the sum of N50m bail, two Permanent Secretaries and two first class chiefs who are under the payroll of the state government, how is that possible?.” he said.
The Lawmaker maintained that the situation if not checked could undermine democracy, peace and unity as well as deny the opposition the opportunity to exercise their franchise.
