Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has launched a large-scale empowerment initiative aimed at providing relief and support to his constituents.

The programme includes the distribution of motorcycles, sewing machines, water pumping equipment, and 50kg bags of rice.

The first phase targeted beneficiaries from Silame, Binji, Gudu, and Tangaza local government areas, providing 50 motorcycles and 1,000 50kg bags of rice to each area. Sewing machines were handed to women to promote self-reliance, while water pumping machines were given to farmers to boost dry-season farming and enhance food security.

“Senator Wamakko’s leadership style is inclusive, extending beyond the Sokoto North Senatorial District,” said APC Youth Leader, Nasiru Italy.

The Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Kabiru Ibrahim Kware, praised the Senator as a respected leader across the state, noting that the APC’s grassroots initiatives have strengthened the party’s presence and overshadowed opposition efforts.

“Senator Wamakko does not limit his interventions to his senatorial zone, but spreads them throughout the state,” he added.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Almustafa Abubakar Alkali, reaffirmed Wamakko’s commitment to fulfilling his political responsibilities with integrity.

Local government officials, including Tangaza Chairman Isah Salihu Bashir and State Assembly member Aliyu Usman Lumu, thanked the Senator for sustaining a tradition of empowerment. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the motorcycles, farming tools, sewing machines, and rice would significantly boost their livelihoods.

The exercise will continue across the remaining four local government areas, Kware, Wamakko, Sokoto North, and Sokoto South, with the Senator’s office confirming plans to extend the initiative to other areas of the state.
