Lawmaker restates commitment to sustainable economic growth

The representative of the southern senatorial district of Cross River State, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong has reiterated his commitment to support the executive arm of government in the delivery of sustainable economic plans for citizens.

Senator Ekpenyong reaffirmed his earlier commitment during a thanksgiving and dedication service held at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) Calabar, Cross River State, south-south Nigeria.

Ekpenyong, who was accompanied by more than fifty (50) senators and twenty (20) members of the green chambers including the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said that the presence of the legislators at the thanksgiving service was a testimonial to earlier pledges made to the almighty.

He explained, “I am here to acknowledge God, the source of my successes and for granting the 10th senate successful inauguration. When one acknowledges God, then God will give more. So, we pray for more in this country. Nigeria will prosper, Nigeria will grow; insecurity will be a thing of the past.

“The 10th assembly will work with the Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, we will pass laws and support the executive to ensure a better standard of living for all Nigerians. I am here to thank God alongside the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu and his deputy, Mr. Peter Odey and other lawmakers,” he stated.

In his remarks, the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu appreciated the lawmakers for celebrating the day with Senator Ekpenyong , noting that their presence signifies the determination to foster unity across the country.

Otu noted that Cross River State was a potpourri of cultures and a welcome to people of diverse traditions, religion, languages and norms, saying “Cross River State is a land of everyone. We have Fulanis and Hausas, who have lived here for over a century. We remain one indivisible family even if we speak different languages.

“The number of lawmakers from the red and green chambers of the national assembly is indicative of the unity and bond, which all Nigerians should imbibe. This is about all of us coming together to give our country proper rebirth and direction. In Cross River State, we have laid a solid foundation and building on the gains of past government. But, this time around we will explode,” he assured.

The Governor further assured of his administration to transform the state with the support of the people, urging residents to exercise patience and encourage the government to deliver on its people-first agenda.

Meanwhile, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong also dedicated his third child to God in a ceremony attended by his father-in-law, a former governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke and his wife, Onari as well as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu amongst others.
