The House of Representatives has stepped down a motion seeking to halt the ban on operations of commercial motorcycles across Nigeria.

This followed the submission of the Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase who presided at plenary.

Wase said there was need to collaborate with the executive arm of government in curtailing the activities of Bandits and kidnappers.

The Deputy Speaker stated that “rather than halt the ban, the government should be urged to restrict the ban on areas affected by banditry and insurgency.”

Mr Abubarka Yalleman who moved the motion, has expressed concern that putting a sizeable number of the population out of work will only aggravate the security challenges in the country.

He added that the measure may also provide the terrorists with a pool for recruitment.
