MediaTek, Airtel partner to enhance mobile connectivity in Nigeria

MediaTek, a global fabless semiconductor company says it is partnering with Airtel Nigeria, a telecommunications company to enhance mobile connectivity in Nigeria.

The Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing, MediaTek Middle East and Africa, Rami Osman said this during a virtual media briefing organised to announce the partnership.

Osman said that the collaboration, which was aimed at driving technological advancements and enhancing mobile connectivity nationwide, would see the integration of hundreds of millions of individuals into the digital economy.

He said this would consequently advance mobile connectivity throughout Nigeria.

According to him, the collaboration highlights MediaTek’s T750-powered Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), a groundbreaking technology that enhances internet connectivity.

“Our collaboration with Airtel Nigeria focuses on enhancing high-speed internet access through advanced chip sets.

“It offers a wider range of premium and flagship devices while supporting the transition from feature phones to smartphones, and exploring innovative AI-IoT solutions, “Osman said.

He explained that the collaboration would drive digital inclusion, revolutionise connectivity in Nigeria and contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Director, Marketing at Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Ismail Adeshina emphasised the importance of the collaboration with MediaTek and how it would provide affordable connectivity to Nigerians.

Adeshina said that Airtel’s commitment to innovation was evident through the Telco’s early adoption of 5G technology.

“We are proactively investing in this technology to improve connectivity, to tackle coverage and cost challenges and make 5G devices more accessible across Nigeria.

“MediaTek powers globally recognised brands and remains dedicated to providing state-of-the-art innovations through its latest products and solutions.
