The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Dr Onwe Ogah has called on Nigerian Journalists to be factual and balanced in their reportage at all times.
Dr Ogah made this Known during a courtesy visit by members of Correspondents’ Chapel in Abakaliki the State’s capital.
He said giving accurate information on what happened and how it happened would not only earn Journalists credibility but also make the entire public to trust and have confidence in every Journalist.
“If someone brings information from this hospital for instance, you should do well to hear from me to know if that actually happened or not. By doing that, you will get enough information that can make your report look so rich and credible as well,“ Ogah added.
He urged the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Correspondents’ Chapel to be united and peaceful as they perform their duties of feeding the public with information.
Consequently, Ogah used the opportunity to warn the general public that; “Many people are using my name in various platforms to defraud people in the name of giving them a job, as am talking to you, some people who defrauded the unsuspecting citizens have been arrested and they are in Police net
“I urge the public to avoid fake news and distance themselves from criminals who are roaming around looking for whom to devour
“When the hospital wants to do employment, it will formally advertise it and people can then apply,“ he added.
On his part, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists Correspondents’Chapel Ebonyi State, Comrade Sampson Nwafor assured the CMD unreserved partnership to move the hospital forward.
Nwafor thanked the CMD for founding the members of the Chapel worthy to partner with him.
