Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has commended the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, for advancing women’s participation and representation in party politics.

The Minister, while addressing delegates at the Nasarawa State Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Lafia, the state capital, described his leadership as “a legacy of inclusion and empowerment.”

Speaking to party faithful, Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim applauded the emergence of more women into key positions within the party’s State Working Committee through consensus arrangements.

“Your Excellency, this is your legacy. We have a woman as the Treasurer, we have women who are holding other positions apart from Woman Leader,” she lauded.

She further praised the Governor’s commitment to gender inclusion, saying, “Your Excellency, you are truly a ‘He For She.’ We truly appreciate you.”

Reaffirming the loyalty of women in the state and across the country to the ruling party, the Minister declared: “Nigerian women, we don’t gamble, Nasarawa women, we don’t gamble, APC has been tried and tested, and we are here for APC 100 per cent.”

The Congress recorded a notable increase in the number of women emerging into various leadership positions within the party structure.

Among the offices now occupied by women are the State Treasurer, Assistant Welfare Officer, and Ex-Officio positions, among others.

Party stakeholders at the event described the development as a significant milestone in broadening inclusiveness and strengthening internal democracy within the APC in Nasarawa State.

Observers say the increased representation of women in strategic roles signals a growing commitment to gender equity in political leadership, in line with national advocacy for greater female participation in governance.

The State Congress concluded with a renewed pledge by party members to consolidate on the gains of unity, inclusiveness, and grassroots mobilisation ahead of future political engagements.
