Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the Mokwa Bridge located in Niger state.
Idris gave the commendation when he led a federal government delegation on a courtesy visit to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, at his residence in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
The Minister expressed gratitude on behalf of Niger State and the people of Mokwa, describing the approval as a gesture held dearly by the indigenes.

“We want to thank Mr President; and I feel really very honoured. And when we discussed with the President and said, this means a lot for us, he quickly appended his signature. And so we feel very happy. Even though the Minister of Works is from Ebonyi, he was the first set of people that sent people to Mokwa to go and look at what happened there. And only yesterday or two days ago, Mr President graciously approved the immediate reconstruction of the Mokwa Bridge for our people. We feel very honoured for that. I know that even our governor, Malam Umar Bago, would be happy to hear this. Thank you,” Idris said.
For his part, Minister of Works David Umahi stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval followed Idris’s request on behalf of Niger State residents.
“Let me announce that, before President Tinubu travelled out some days ago, he graciously approved the immediate reconstruction of the Mokwa Bridge. He also approved the reconstruction of the washed-away five-span bridge of Wukari in Taraba State. Tinubu is very fair; each time he does something, it touches the entire geopolitical zone. Let me also announce that the Lokoja Bridge that is flying up and down, Tinubu has also given approval for that. And also, the road between Afikpo, Abia, and Imo State, Tinubu has released money that we should go and scope out the washed section of it, and then do it on a permanent basis,” Umahi said.
The visit formed part of the Citizens’ Engagement Tour of the South East states of Enugu and Ebonyi, aimed at inspecting federal government projects and engaging with residents to gather feedback for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
