The Commander of the 119 Composite Group, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), in Sokoto State, Group Captain Harri Nanle Gumut, has encouraged personnel to sustain and strengthen their commitment to safeguarding the nation and advancing the fight against insecurity.
Group Captain Gumut made the charged shortly after a 10 km walk competition organised by the unit in Sokoto State.
He said the exercise was aimed at enhancing troops operational readiness to face current security challenges affecting the country.

“The walk is to improve personnel physical fitness, skills, discipline as well as standard of battle readiness.
“For the Nigerian Air Force, the road walk is crucial in fostering a culture of fitness, discipline and teamwork, ultimately contributing to our operational effectiveness.
“The exercise is about building the resilience and endurance to enable us discharge our constitutional role of safeguarding the national territorial integrity as well as sokoto metropolis and fostering unity among each other,” Group Captain Gumut said.
He said the 119 composite group would continue to explore more avenue towards ensuring personnel always remain fitted in order to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively.
“As an Air force personnel it is expected to be smart and carry all your duties effectively. If you are unhealthy you will not be able to discharge your responsibility as required.
“I commend each of you for your unwavering resolve, stamina and teamwork, your participation in this exercise showcases the NAF core values of integrity, service before self and excellence in all we do.
“Let’s maintain this momentum and apply the same level of discipline and dedication while carrying out our daily duties. We should continue to propel ourselves towards excellence and achieve new heights,” he added.
He urged troops to always create time to exercise and get ready to face contemporary security challenges affecting some part of the country.
Group Captain Gumut appreciated the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Bala Abubakar, for his support, interest and commitment to ensure personnel of the Nigerian Air Force train in a competitive manner.

The Commander commended the troops for their giant strides in tackling banditry and other security challenges confronting the nation.
The highlight of the exercise was the presentation of awards to personnel and civilians who emerged winners in the various categories of the walk and jog, among others.
