The Nasarawa State Government has announced plans to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all tertiary institutions in the state, aiming to enhance learning outcomes and boost overall productivity
Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, disclosed this at the 5th seminar series organised by the Faculty of Education, Nasarawa State University Keffi.
He said the seminar aligns with the Nasarawa State Government’s initiative to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.
“The government aims to leverage AI’s potential to enhance educational quality and productivity and encouraged students to utilize AI tools effectively to improve their academic performance”.
Speaking, the Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, said the institution has already adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool, yielding positive results in the academic system.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Linkages, Prof. K’tso Ngargbu, announced that the use of AI in education can help bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing students with real-world experiences and applications.
He said; “This development underscores the university’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance educational quality, we urged everyone to key into it”.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Christopher Gbare, and Prof. Hauwa’u Mohammed Mainoma of the same faculty, noted that AI was chosen as the theme for this year’s seminar due to the current digital landscape.
They advocated for the adoption of AI systems in secondary and primary schools across the state, emphasizing the benefits it could bring to students, teachers, and the education sector as a whole.
The stressed that the adoption of AI in education is a significant step towards preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century.
“By integrating AI into the curriculum, students can develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity”.
“As the world becomes increasingly digital, it is essential for educational institutions to stay ahead of the curve and prepare students for the future.
“By embracing AI, Nasarawa State University Keffi and other educational institutions in the state can position themselves as leaders in innovation and technology, providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in an rapidly changing world”.
The 5th seminar series of the Faculty of Education at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, focused on “Exploring the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Quality and Innovative Research in Educational Management“, brought together PhD and Master’s students to discuss the potential of Artificial Intelligence in improving educational management.
