The Management of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa has issued a stern warning to students against organizing sign-out ceremonies and engaging in the spraying of Naira notes during graduation celebrations.
In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Information and Publicity, Mrs. Safina Sabo, and made available to journalists in Lafia, the institution announced an immediate ban on such activities, warning that any student found violating the directive will face strict disciplinary actions.
“Any immoral, indecent, or disrespectful conduct capable of bringing the good name of the Polytechnic to disrepute will not be accepted and shall attract severe consequences,” the statement read.
Mrs. Sabo explained that the decision was reached following a management meeting held with the Students Union Government (SUG) executives, class representatives, and school senators. As a result, all Sign-Out parties and Final Year Brethren (FYB) celebrations before or after final examinations have been officially banned.
The statement also disclosed that all graduating students will be required to sign an undertaking pledging compliance with the directive. Violators risk penalties including examination cancellation, expulsion, or a repeat of the academic session.
Additionally, the management has prohibited celebratory acts such as the spraying of money, as well as possession or use of firearms, alcohol, illicit drugs, and any other intoxicating substances within the campus.
Mrs. Sabo further stated that queries will be issued to departments and invigilators who allow students into examination halls wearing or carrying “sign-out” items.
