The National Directorate of Employment in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria, has embarked on disbursement of starter packs to the beneficiaries of its Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) under the Vocational Skills Department.
The NDE Director- General, Malam Abubakar Nuhu disclosed this while delivering his address during the disbursement in Abakaliki, the State Capital.
The Director-General who was represented by the NDE State Coordinator, Pastor Don Anaba said “National Directorate of Employment was created for massive employment and job creation”.
“The Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) is a vocational Skill Training Scheme used by NDE to impact modern vocational Skill on unemployed youths and women in our society to make them employable and self reliant”.
The State Coordinator further explained that “a total of 26 out of the 65 unemployed youths and Women trained are receiving necessary and relevant starter packs/tools for a successful vocation skill ventures over six trending skills including Computer operation, GSM repair, Hair Dressing, Gele and Turban making and Shoe works”.
Anaba said NDE Skills training are imparted on the unemployed youths through Vocational Skill Acquisition Program, Small Scale Enterprises Program and Special Public Works program.
Consequently, he thanked Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru for a conducive environment to operate.
The NDE Zonal Director, Mrs. Ifeoma Ezepuo, represented by Odo Benjamin, encouraged the trainees to work hard and become employers of labour.

The Head of Department, Vocational Skill Development, Mr. Obiora Ananaba said the Skill Acquisition training program has reduced unemployment in Nigeria.
“NDE training goes with resettlement of the Trainees, hence this disbursement,” Ananaba added.
One of the trainers , Mrs. Nweze Victorine from God’s Victory Galaxy advised the beneficiaries to be friendly and kind to their customers in order to make their business successful.
The equipments distributed are Cosmology equipment, Hair Dressing tools, sewing machines, Catering equipment among others.
