NDE Flags Off Youth Transformation Training in Ebonyi State

The Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Malam Abubaka Nuhu Fikpo, has flagged off a Youth Transformation Training to reduce Youth unemployment and restiveness in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria.

The Flag-off Ceremony was performed by the NDE State Coordinator, Pastor Don Anaba who represented the Director-General during the Ceremony in Abakaliki, the State Capital.

Pastor Anaba said the scheme “provides employment opportunities for people and encourages production of goods and services and leads to self-employment and reduction of poverty. Today, a total of 2O unemployed youths and women from each of the 13 LGAs of the State are receiving relevant trainings for a successfully vocation skills in over 3 trendy skills including Fashion Design, Auto Mechanic and Welding.”

He However informed that unemployment remains one of the very serious social challenges militating against development and the repercussions of mass unemployment if not properly addressed, will adversely affect the developmental obligations of the nation.

“It is in view of this that the NDE more than ever before, has been deploying innovative and dynamic strategies towards addressing the challenges posed by mass unemployment.”

“It is pertinent to mention here that NDE skills training are imparted on the unemployed youths through its four cardinal jobs creation programmes of Vocational Skills Acquisition Programme, Small Scale Enterprises Programme, Rural Employment Promotion Programme, Special Public Works Programme”

He urged all Unemployed youths and women in Ebonyi State to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by NDE to acquire skills and exit joblessness.

The Head of Department HOD, Vocational Skill Development in the State, Mr. Obiora Ananaba, who was represented by Mr. Nwosu Ekene, said it was a “privilege from Nigeria Government to have selected few of 20 of you across the State for this youth Transformation Training.

“I want to inform you that the era of parading big certificates has gone, it is now the era of what you can do and doing it well. Please take this empowerment training serious. It is for your own good and for the betterment of Nigeria at large.”

Also, during the Flag-off, the Center Manager of Technology Incubation Center in Ebonyi State, Dr Ibiam Oluchi encouraged all the 20 beneficiaries to use the training in changing their lives positively.

Dr Ibiam made the Trainees to understand that Skill is the key to success for sustainable development in the global economy.

One of the Beneficiaries on behalf of others, Miss Nwali Ogechi thanked NDE immensely for making Nigeria Youths to become self-reliant and promised to put in their best.

She promised that they will put in their best in the training.

The Youth Transformation Training Scheme (YTTS) is a Vocational Skills Training Scheme used by NDE to impart modern vocational skills on unemployed persons in the society to make them self-reliant.
