NDLEA Chairman Commends Theatre Commander, Troops for Patriotism and Sacrifice

The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (JTF) Northeast Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Gold Chibuisi, and the troops of Hadin Kai have been commended for their patriotism, professionalism, gallantry as well as sacrifice to the nation.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa, gave the commendation when he paid a visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK, Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State.

General Marwa said his visit to the Theatre Command was to strengthen collaboration and to seek more support of the military in order to continue with the offensive against illicit drug use, peddling and to also deny insurgents the availability of drugs.

He further stated that working together with the military would extinguish the scourge of illicit drugs in the country.

Marwa who described his visit to the Maimalari Cantonment as nostalgic, having served as a one-time Commanding Officer 212 Tank Battalion, noted that the insurgency in the North East had drastically reduced, compared to years back, attributing it to the good leadership of the commanders and performance of the troops of OPHK.

The chairman assured the Command of NDLEA’s readiness to sensitize troops to the dangers of illicit drugs and called for a periodical drug test for troops. This, he said, would drastically reduce the prevalence of drug abuse among troops.

He further commended the troops for their doggedness and commitment to duty, noting that the agency could be reached privately on a free call helpline for assistance.

The Theatre Commander Major General Gold Chibuisi, in a remark appreciated General Marwa for his timely visit, stressing that insurgency had high connection with drug abuse, hence its use by the insurgents to stimulate them in carrying out heinous acts.

General Chibuisi assured the chairman that the Command will factor in drugs fight and other guidance given.

The visit which featured presentation of quarter guard, signing of visitor’s book, exchange of souvenirs and group photographs, had in attendance the Deputy Theatre Commander, Major General OM Bello; General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Major General PP Malla; Borno State Commander NDLEA; senior officers of Theatre Command and NDLEA Borno State; and   Director, Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Dr. Femi Babafemi, amongst others.
