Nigeria is set to experience a new wave of youth-led action against malaria with the launch of the Geneith Health Competition (GHC), a national initiative designed to empower students as frontline ambassadors in the fight against the disease.

The competition, organised by CEOAFRICA, sponsored by Geneith Pharmaceuticals Ltd., and powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, offers secondary and tertiary school students a structured platform to drive malaria prevention and awareness campaigns in their schools and communities.

Malaria remains one of Nigeria’s most pressing public health challenges, claiming lives and slowing development.

The GHC aims to reverse this trend by equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to champion prevention strategies and encourage behavioural change at the grassroots.

Chief Executive of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, described the programme as more than a contest, calling it “a movement that empowers youth to take ownership of their health and that of their communities.”

Managing Director of Geneith Pharmaceuticals, Mr Emmanuel Umenwa, stressed the importance of youth participation.

“Nigerian youth must be at the forefront of battling malaria. By equipping them with knowledge, we can create a network of health ambassadors driving change,” he said.

Participants will compete for substantial cash prizes while spreading critical health messages.

However, organisers emphasise that the greater reward lies in saving lives and reducing malaria’s devastating impact across Nigeria.

The campaign is driven by inspirational mottos such as “End malaria, our strongest challenge yet”; “Your health, your defence against malaria”; “Stand strong, stay malaria-free.” “Mosquitoes don’t rest; neither should we.” and “Join the competition, beat the bite.”

“We call upon all young individuals to join this vital initiative,” Ilobanafor appealed.

“Together, as youth ambassadors, we can make malaria a thing of the past in Nigeria.”

Registration is already open, with organisers urging students nationwide to sign up at www.geneithhealthcompetition.com.
