Niger State: Agency confirms 49 passengers rescued in Boat mishap

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency in North Central Nigeria has confirmed that 49 out of 50 passengers were rescued in a boat mishap in Shiroro Local government area of the State.

According to a statement by the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Agency, Ibrahim Inga, “The boat was said to have loaded passengers and goods from Nansa village by the river bank upstream shiroro Dam heading towards Kwata Saturday market at Zumba Village, Midway, the boat hit a tree stumb and broke into 2.

“1 person out of the 50 Passengers on the boat has been confirmed drowned while one other person was injured.

The traditional custodian of the Shiroro River, Mallam Umar Isa, also confirmed that 1 passenger died while the other 49 passengers were rescued with minor injuries.
