Niger State at 45: Governor Bello pledges developmental policies

The Governor of Niger State North-Central Nigeria, Abubakar Sani Bello, says he will continue to formulate policies and programmes aimed at impacting the lives of people in the state positively.

The Governor stated this through his Chief Press Secretary, Mrs Mary Noel Berje, on the occasion to mark the 45th anniversary of the State.

The Governor called for a collective effort in building the state noting that the task of governance is a collective responsibility which must not be left to government alone.

Niger state was carved out from the defunct North-Western State during the regime of General Murtala Ramat Muhammad in 1976.

Governor Sani Bello who appreciated God for the appreciable growth and development recorded in the last 45 years of the State’s existence, noted that the level of development in the State is not commensurate with its years of existence.

“A lot is being done to add value to the contributions of successive administrations towards building a virile State.” Governor Bello said.

The Governor, who further said He has done a lot in terms of creating solutions to the issue of insecurity in parts of the state, stressed that his administration is more than ever, determined to halt the insecurity challenges in the areas.

“The people in the affected parts of the State have suffered enormously due to the continued attacks by the bandits, but I am not going to be deterred by that, the government will step up its plans to end the insecurity,” he said.

The Governor, however, acknowledged the efforts of the traditional rulers and other stakeholders across the state, urged them to improve on the existing harmonious, peaceful coexistence in their domains as well as exposing enemies of the State who are serving as informants to the men of the underworld.
