The Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPRE) has formally launched the Nigeria Country Resilience and Human Security Assessment.
This groundbreaking, multi-dimensional study was carried out in close collaboration with the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, the European Union, EU and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ.
The wide-ranging assessment provides an in-depth evaluation of Nigeria’s resilience capacities and human security landscape across critical sectors.
It delivers practical recommendations to inform policymaking, guide development planning, and reinforce coordinated national responses to current and emerging threats.

The high-level launch event brought together senior government officials, civil society actors, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and members of the diplomatic corps.
Participants commended the collaborative effort behind the study and stressed the importance of unified action in building a safer and more resilient Nigeria.
In his address, the Director-General of OSPRE, Mr Chris Ngwodo, highlighted the strategic importance of the assessment, stating:
“This study marks a significant step forward in our national strategy to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to the diverse risks that undermine human and national security,” Mr Ngwodo said.

Representatives from ECOWAS, the EU, and GIZ reiterated their ongoing commitment to supporting Nigeria’s resilience agenda and lauded the government’s proactive approach in addressing the root causes of insecurity and vulnerability.
The Nigeria Country Resilience and Human Security Assessment is expected to serve as a cornerstone for improving coordination among institutions and stakeholders while aligning development and security strategies at both national and sub-national levels.
