Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, said Nigeria continues to play a crucial role in advancing economic development, democratic governance, and peace mediation across West Africa.
Speaking on the Voice of Nigeria Forum 2026, he noted that Nigeria’s efforts in promoting credible elections, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring transparency in parliamentary processes have strengthened democratic institutions.
He highlighted that Nigerian parliamentarians have actively engaged with counterparts across the region to maintain peace and stability,“Nigeria’s leadership role in West African peace initiatives remains significant,” he said.
The Deputy Senate President also commended institutions such as the Voice of Nigeria for their role in projecting the nation’s achievements and fostering unity.
“This VON forum continues to serve as a lifeline in shaping West Africa and demonstrating to the world that Nigeria remains one united and resilient nation,” he added.
According to him, Nigeria’s leadership extends beyond governance, encompassing economic development, regional cooperation, and peacebuilding initiatives.
“Through collaborative efforts with other West African nations, Nigeria has contributed significantly to sustaining democracy, promoting credible elections, and ensuring respect for human rights across the sub-region,” he added.
The Deputy Senate President concluded by reaffirming that Nigeria remains strong, united, and committed to its role as a regional leader, leveraging its institutions, parliamentary processes, and media platforms to influence positive change across West Africa.
