The High Commissioner Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Mohamadou Musa Njie has lauded Nigeria’s leadership, describing it as a driving force for regional progress and cooperation in West Africa.
Speaking at the VON Forum 2026, Njie conveyed the warm greetings and appreciation of the Government and people of The Gambia for the invitation to participate.
He noted that “the forum provides a valuable platform to reflect on shared efforts towards democratic consolidation, peace, and regional integration.”

Njie emphasised that Nigeria’s contributions to ECOWAS over the past five decades have been fundamental, highlighting ‘the country’s unwavering commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and effective governance across the region.’
He added that Nigeria’s leadership has helped position ECOWAS as a credible and responsive institution, capable of addressing political instability and promoting collective security among member states.
On his part, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, commended the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace, for his dedication to strengthening stakeholder engagement and human capacity development.

Dr. Neliaku highlighted that “VON’s consistent efforts in institutional collaboration have been vital to effective public communication and national development.”
He further praised the forum as a platform that fosters dialogue, professional growth, and collaboration across the media and public relations sectors.
