Nigeria records 159 new COVID-19 cases

Nigeria has recorded 159 new cases of COVID-19 across the country.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced this in its daily update on the virus.

In the agency’s latest update, the cases were reported in 12 states of the federation.

It says: ”Today’s report includes 71 cases reported for FCT for 18th (40) and 19th (31) Sep 2021, 20 cases reported for Lagos for 18th ( and 19th (12) Sep 2021, 130 discharges including community discharge reported from Oyo State, 0 cases from Edo, Oyo, Ogun and Osun States.”

 FCT takes the lead with 71cases, Lagos-20, Imo-17, Rivers-15, Cross River-9, Kano-7, Ondo-7, Plateau-4, Ekiti-3, Niger-3, Delta-2, Bauchi-1.

Overall, 209,546 cases have been confirmed, 197,546 discharged and 2,838 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa has Officially Resumed Duties at NCDC as the New Director-General

Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, newly appointed as the Assistant DG of the World Health Organisation’s Pandemic Hub of Intelligence officially handed over the leadership of NCDC to the incoming DG – Dr. Adetifa, at a ceremony organised to celebrate NCDC’s transformation journey in the last 5 years.
