The Nigerian Government has announced plans for the 2025 NISECEXPO-DICON, an international security conference and exhibition jointly organised by the Nigeria International Security Conference and Exhibition (NISEC) and the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).

The event, themed “Future Wars: Operational Resilience and Force Build-Up Capabilities,” aims to advance Nigeria’s defence industrialisation and address emerging national and global security challenges.

The Director-General of DICON, Major General Babatunde Alaya, disclosed the development during a press briefing on the forthcoming exhibition scheduled to be held from 8–10 December 2025 in Abuja.

Represented by the Director of Engineering Services, Commodore Adedotun Ogundiran, he described the expo as a ‘significant milestone for Nigeria’s defence and security ecosystem.’

Alaya noted that the 19th edition marks a renewed push to position the country as a continental hub for defence research, manufacturing, and technology development.

He recalled that the exhibition, which began in 2013, had maintained consistency except for the pause during the COVID-19 period.

Alaya said that “The 2025 edition is being organised in partnership with NISEC Expo Limited, a reputable organisation in global defence exhibitions.”

This collaboration, he said, “Aligns with the mandates of the DIAMOND Act of 2023, which empowers DICON to regulate the defence industrial sector, promote research and development, and strengthen domestic and international partnerships for sustainable defence production.”

According to him, the 2025 NISECEXPO-DICON will provide a strategic platform to showcase Nigeria’s evolving defence manufacturing capabilities while opening new opportunities for investment, research collaboration, industrial partnerships, and capacity development.

The event is expected to attract a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, defence industry leaders, private-sector innovators, academic institutions, regulatory agencies, and international partners.

The exhibition will feature high-level engagements and technological showcases focusing on key national and regional security priorities.

Defence manufacturers and innovators will have an opportunity to present indigenous solutions, attract investment, and expand professional networks.

For the military, paramilitary, and security institutions, the expo offers a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge defence technologies and engage directly with industry leaders on potential acquisitions.

Researchers and universities are also expected to benefit, as the event reinforces the critical role of science, innovation, and intellectual capacity in strengthening Nigeria’s modern defence architecture.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer and Security Expert, Frank Ohwofs, JP, said that unfolding global and national events clearly demonstrate a shift in the nature of modern conflict.

Ohwofs noted that today’s threats are defined by asymmetric warfare driven by the convergence of cyber, space, information, and robotic domains, layered upon traditional land, sea, and air operations.

According to him, “modern battles are increasingly fought with algorithms, drones, and cognitive warfare techniques, leaving nations vulnerable to hybrid threats combining physical attacks with cyber operations, economic coercion, and disinformation campaigns.”

He explained that for Nigeria and Africa, this emerging threat environment is a lived reality, reflected in ongoing insurgencies, terrorism, and maritime insecurity across the Gulf of Guinea.

The spread of advanced weaponry, he stressed, “further complicates the region’s security landscape, making operational resilience a central pillar of national defence.”

Ohwofs stated that “NISECEXPO-DICON 2025 will break down this theme through a series of interconnected sessions designed to strengthen the nation’s capacity to anticipate, withstand, recover from, and adapt to evolving threats.”

He further described the conference as ‘a catalyst for innovation and strategic collaboration, bringing together the ideas, technologies, and partnerships needed to advance Nigeria’s defence posture.’

The event will include high-level strategic dialogues, live technical demonstrations, war-gaming sessions on hybrid threats, and structured business-to-business, business-to-government forums aimed at converting discussions into actionable projects.

Ohwofs urged the global defence community to engage with Nigeria not merely as vendors but as partners, and called on the media to deliver deep, analytical reporting that enhances public understanding of the country’s evolving security needs.

He ended by stressing that NISECEXPO-DICON 2025 represents Nigeria’s proactive commitment to developing a resilient and adaptive defence industry equipped with sovereign capabilities to safeguard the nation in an increasingly unpredictable world.
