Nigeria, UK Strengthen Ties Ahead Of President Tinubu’s Visit

On the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, held talks with the United Kingdom’s Minister for International Development and Africa, Baroness Jenny Chapman.

The meeting focused on preparations for the forthcoming State Visit of President Bola Tinubu to the United Kingdom, while also exploring new opportunities to further deepen Nigeria–UK relations.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, both sides exchanged views on key regional priorities, reaffirming their shared commitment to sustained dialogue and stronger collaboration in support of security, good governance, and economic growth.

“Our discussions highlighted the importance of continued partnership between Nigeria and the UK, particularly in advancing regional stability and economic development,” the Spokesperson added.
