Ahead of the 14th African Arm Wrestling Championship tagged ‘Abuja 2025’ the Local Organizing Committee over the weekend unveiled the mascot and jersey at a colourful ceremony at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
The cream of Nigeria Sports personalities gathered to witness the unveiling of the official mascot and jersey, they were led by the National Sports Commission chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko and other distinguished personalities.

The 14th African Arm Wrestling Championship & 7th Para-Armwrestling Championship will hold in Abuja from July 23rd to 27th with 15 countries participating.
At the ceremony Hon. Adeyinka Adeboye, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, charged the audience to take interest in the sport and contribute meaningfully to the development of Armwrestling in the country.
In his welcome remarks, Hon. Adeboye set the tone for the evening with a rousing call for unity, vision, and investment in the future of the sports in the continent.
“This championship is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of African unity, discipline, and athletic potential. Today’s event marks a major milestone—not only are we unveiling our official mascot and team jerseys, but we are also launching a campaign that will shape the future of armwrestling across the continent.”
He commended the leadership of Malam Shehu Dikko and Chief Bukola Olopade, Director General of the NSC, for their firm commitment to the growth and structure of all federations under their watch.
The unveiled mascot—a symbol of power, resilience, and unity—was described as an embodiment of the values that define African athletes, while the team jerseys were celebrated as emblems of pride, sacrifice, and national representation.
“These jerseys are not just fabric,” Adeboye declared. “They carry the dreams, sweat, and resilience of our athletes. They remind us that greatness comes from hard work, and every competitor wearing them is already a champion.”
“Together, we can provide the facilities, the equipment, and the atmosphere for greatness. Your support tonight is not just financial—it’s transformational.” Hon.Adeboye said.
In his remarks, NSC chairman Mallam Dikko congratulated the LOC and the entire Armwrestling federation for their hardwork, resilience and go-getter spirit.
According to him, ‘ Armwrestling aligned with our vision. Bringing the rest of Africa to Abuja is a lot of positivity to the country. We’re doing our best to support the federation to the fullest. We’re excited and want to see the best of the sports in July.
Nigeria Armwrestling President, Engineer Samuel Johnson vowed that the federation is making adequate plan to make the sports a household name and urged all well meaning stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to the development of the game and the African Championship.
