Nigerian Army tasks Troops on continuous training

The Nigerian Army has tasked troops on continuous training saying it as the most significant aspect of a professional military career.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) Major General Ibrahim Ali made this known on 26 October 2022 when he inaugurated students for the maiden Drivers Basic Course 1/2022.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 3 Division Nigerian Army, Major Ishaku Takwa General Ali also presented certificates to participants of 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA) as graduated students of her maiden Drivers Refresher Course in Jos, Plateau State.

General Ali noted that the challenges of managing scarce resources which are quite enormous in the face of other competing demands has necessitated the training of troops towards equipping them with skills to operate equipment effectively and efficiently.

He stressed that the continuous training of troops is a significant aspect of a professional military career.

This he noted is in consonance with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, which is to have “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions Within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”.

According to the GOC/Commander OPSH, the Basic Drivers course which is the Maiden edition was designed to enhance soldiers driving ability and further build the capacity of drivers in 3 Division Area of Responsibility. This he said would enhance prompt response of the troops to emergency situations.

Delivering an address of welcome, the Commander 73 Supply and Transport Brigade, Brigadier General Solomon E revealed that the Driver Basic Course 1/2022 has 25 students including 2 Nigerian Air Force personnel and a Corps member.

He said the training shall include practical driving, long distance driving both day and night, thorough understanding of driving procedures in all weather conditions and terrains as well as a good knowledge on the daily maintenance and care of vehicles.

The ceremony was attended by Principal Staff officers, Comptroller Nigeria Immigration Service Plateau state, Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Plateau state, Rector Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) TV College Jos and the Executive Director Gradan Driving Academy Jos among others.
