Nigerian Celebrities Push Fela Kuti’s Hall of Fame Nomination

Nigerian celebrities, including Don Jazzy, Burna Boy, Banky W, and Mr Macaroni, have urged fans to vote for the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, in the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Fela, who was renowned for his music and human rights activism, was nominated alongside 15 other global music icons.

The public voting process will close on April 30, while the inductees will be announced in May and honored at a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.

Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Sykes, said “the ballot reflects the diversity and impact of the nominees, who have influenced generations of artists worldwide.”

Other nominees include Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, and Dionne Warwick.
