The Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic Of Benin, Tukur Buratai has urged his Community in Buratai town, Biu Local Government Area of Borno, to fully support and appreciate the effort of the military in restoring peace in the Northeastern part of the Country.
Ambassador Buratai, a former Army Chief stated this during a ceremony organised by his local community to honour his leadership quality and selfless contributions to the development of Nigeria.
General Buratai thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for entrusting him with the responsibility of commanding the Nigerian Army at a critical period as well as his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Benin Republic.
He further commended his community for their love, prayers and support, describing the gesture as an honour to the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their untiring efforts of bringing peace and stability in the northeast and other parts of the country.
Ambassador Buratai also urged ”the people of his community to utilise the advantage of the interest-free thrift loan scheme provided to them in enhancing their vocations.”
He advised youths in the community on making take education a priority.
Presenting a shield, sword, bow and arrow, as a mark of respect to the former Army Chief, the Galadiman Buratai, Alhaji Lawan Barka congratulated and prayed for Allah’s guide and protection to Ambassador Buratai for his selfless service to his community, Borno State and Nigeria.
Serving and retired Military Officers attended the occasion, including the Commanding Officer of 231 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel SN Bemu, Commanding Officer of 135 Battalion Buratai, Major YM Kachalla, Director General of Tukur Buratai Institute for War and Peace (TBIWP), Brigadier General Abdullahi Dadan-Garba (rtd) and the Director of Strategic Communication at TBIWP, Major General Lawal Zakari. Others are; Colonel Sabi’u Ado (rtd),
Brigadier Sani Usman Kukasheka (Rtd) Consultant Director, Corporate Affairs and Information Services, Nigerian Resource Centre and other notable community leaders in Borno and other States in Nigeria.
