Renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi passed away at the age of 98 on the morning of 27 November 2025.

His death was confirmed by one of his students, Alhaji Bala Muhammed Abubakar, who told Voice of Nigeria in Gombe by telephone that the Sheikh died at his residence in Bauchi.

Alhaji Bala stated:
“Hakane, yanzu haka ina cikin gidan, Shehu kwana ya kare.”
(“Yes, it is true. I am in his residence at this moment; the Sheikh has passed on.”

Born on 29 June 1927, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi dedicated his life to Islamic teaching and scholarship, leaving behind a legacy of profound influence. Widely respected as one of the foremost scholars of his generation, his guidance and teachings extended far beyond his immediate community, with many regarding him as a beacon of religious education and moral instruction.

At the time of writing, the date and time of his funeral prayer have not been announced. Members of his family and the broader Muslim community are expected to issue formal announcements in due course.
