President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu I, the Oba of Lagos, on the occasion of his 82nd birthday.
The President characterised the Monarch as ‘a significant pillar of stability, wisdom, and continuity within Nigeria’s traditional and civic life.’
In a message of goodwill disseminated by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Oba Akiolu for his unwavering leadership as a steward of the esteemed Lagos heritage.
He acknowledged that the Monarch’s reign has upheld the dignity of the Iga Idunganran throne while reinforcing the connection between traditional authority and contemporary governance.
The President extolled the his advocacy for equity, justice, and unity among Lagosians, saying “Lagos State has continued to flourish as a hub of enterprise, excellence, and progress under his two-decade reign.”
He also acknowledged the Monarch’s distinguished service to the nation as a senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force before ascending the throne, describing him as a “model of discipline and integrity.”
President Tinubu further commended Oba Akiolu’s wise counsel to successive governments, his contributions to national cohesion, and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to bless the Oba of Lagos with long life, good health, and renewed strength to sustain his legacy of peace and development.
