President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Senate for its expedited confirmation of General Christopher Gwabin Musa as the new Minister of Defence.

In a message posted on his official X handle, @OfficialABAT, the President described the appointment as coming at “a critical juncture.”

President Tinubu noted that he had transmitted General Musa’s nomination to the Senate only two days earlier and commended the lawmakers for their swift action in advancing his administration’s security agenda.

The Nigerian leader also hailed the former Chief of Defence Staff as “a fine gentleman” whose leadership qualities and operational expertise will be instrumental in strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture.

Two days ago, I transmitted the name of General Christopher G. Musa, our immediate past Chief of Defence Staff and a fine gentleman, to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation as the Federal Minister of Defence.

“I want to commend the Nigerian Senate for its expedited confirmation of General Musa yesterday. His appointment comes at a critical juncture in our lives as a Nation.”

General Musa’s nomination as Minister of Defence followed the resignation of his predecessor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, earlier in the week.
