Nigerian Troops Boost Security in North Central Region

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE formerly known as Operation SAFE HAVEN have engaged in fierce crackdown on  spots across North Central Nigeria, to boost security in the region.

The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye disclosed this during the weekly briefing of the ongoing military operations by the Armed Forces of Nigeria across the country in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to him, troops conducted offensive operations and responded to distress calls on terrorists’ activities in Mangu, Jos North, Riyom, QuaÁn Pan, Barki Ladi, Jos East and Bassa LGAs of Plateau State as well as Kaura LGA of Kaduna State during the week.

General Kangye said that “some weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and vehicles were recovered from them”.

 In another development, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper while withdrawing the sum of N3, 000,000.00 from a POS vendor in Bassa LGA on 30 August 2025.

Similarly, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the North West encountered and killed some terrorists and rescued 4 kidnapped victims.

According to him, some arms and ammunition were also recovered.

Relatedly, the gallant troops responded to information about terrorist activities in Faskari and Sabuwa LGAs of Katsina State as well as  Tangaza and Augie LGAs of Sokoto and Kebbi State respectively.

During the encounters, troops eliminated some terrorists, recovered arms and ammunition and 14 kidnapped victims,” General Kangye said.

He noted that a suspected terrorist was arrested while on transit in Borgu LGA of Niger State.

Also, “during a thorough search, some arms, Ammunition, motorcycle and the sum of N321, 000.00 were recovered,” General Kangye said.

 In the same vein, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE in North Central recorded some successes in their Area of Responsibility during the week.

According to him, they conducted operations in Nasarawa, Keana and Akwanga LGAs of Nasarawa State as well as Logo, Agatu, Gwer West, Ukum, Kwande and Katsina Ala LGAs of Benue State.

General Kangye noted they conducted operations in Karim Lamido, Wukari, Donga and Lau LGAs of Taraba State as well as Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT. Similar operations were also conducted in Lokoja and Kabba LGAs of Kogi State.

He said that “during the operations, troops eliminated some extremists and kidnappers, arrested 9 of them and rescued 13 kidnapped hostages”.

The troops also recovered arms and ammunition, mobile phones, motorcycles and vehicles.

General Kangye commended the gallant troops in all theatres of operation for their unwavering courage, professionalism, and sacrifice in the service of the nation.

Meanwhile, a minute of silence was observed for officers that lost their lives in defending their father land.
