The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike, has been honoured at the Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards 2025, organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) under the Presidency.
Prof. Anosike received the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award in recognition of his visionary leadership in advancing GovTech initiatives and promoting digital governance in line with the Nigerian government’s digital transformation agenda.
NiMet also won the award for “Best Federal MDA in Open Data Excellence,” acknowledging its exceptional performance in data transparency, innovation, and digital transformation within the public service.
The recognition highlights NiMet’s steadfast commitment to providing timely, accurate, and actionable meteorological data for climate mitigation and early warning systems.
It also affirms Prof. Anosike’s dedication to positioning NiMet among the world’s leading meteorological agencies, setting new standards for excellence, innovation, and impact.

The Nigeria GovTech Conference & Awards is a flagship BPSR initiative designed to accelerate digital transformation across Nigeria’s public sector.
The event brings together government agencies, private-sector innovators, technologists, policymakers, and civil society to celebrate exceptional achievements in GovTech, promote technology-driven reforms, and strengthen capacity in digital governance.
By spotlighting exemplary institutions and leaders, the Awards aim to fast-track Nigeria’s progress towards efficient, transparent, and citizen-centred public service delivery.
Among the other recipients were the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar A. Namadi, and the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, among others.
