The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing and rehabilitating the downstream infrastructure across Nigeria to enhance collaboration and efficiency in the energy sector.
The Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, represented by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Dr. Mumuni Dagazau, made this known at the opening ceremony of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week, held in Lagos on Monday.
Speaking on the conference theme, “Energy Sustainability: Beyond Boundaries & Competition,” he emphasised that competition alone can no longer drive growth in the sector.
He urged industry stakeholders to embrace collaboration, sustainability, and resilience as the new benchmark for success.
“At NNPC, we are committed to deploying additional infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain while revamping existing downstream facilities nationwide. These assets will be accessible to partners seeking to store and transport products, fostering strategic alliances and collaboration in the sector,” he said.

He noted that recent strategic policies, fiscal incentives, and transparent regulatory frameworks — particularly those introduced under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) — have stimulated growth in the industry.
These developments are driving new investments in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and mini-LNG projects, creating opportunities for innovation and capacity building, he added.
He encouraged participants at the conference to engage in discussions that would help redefine energy systems to be both profitable and sustainable, foster cross-sector partnerships, and promote business models that support decarbonisation while enhancing economic value.
The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week remains Africa’s foremost downstream and midstream energy event, attracting policymakers, regulators, operators, service providers, and consumers from across the energy value chain.
