Northern Christian clerics laud Islamic scholar’s peace mission campaign

Northern Christian leaders in Nigeria have applauded Islamic scholar, Sheikh Mahmud Gumi for leading a negotiating team with Fulani herdsmen for peace and stability in the region

According to the general overseer of Christ evangelical and life intervention ministry, Pastor Yohanna Buru only God would reward the Islamic scholar for dedicating his time toward visiting the Fulanis in southern Kaduna forest in other to draw their attention on the need to embrace Arabic and western education with the rearing of cattle

Pastor Yohanna made the commendation during an interview with the press at Nigerian union of journalist Kaduna chapter.

“We really appreciate him for taking his time visiting those Fulanis while calling on them to embrace peace, his Uniqueness is quite different among other scholars in his method of approach to end killing, cattle rustling, kidnapping, arm banditry and Gun-men attack”

“We must applaud him for taking this bold step towards educating the Fulani youth on the dangers of Drugs abuses, and involving themselves into an unlawful act”

“The importance of peace cannot be overemphasized hence the need for them to embrace peace and unity and dialogue with Government to solved their problems in other to move the country forward,” he explained.

Buru, therefore, called on all other Islamic scholars to emulate the effort of Sheikh Gumi and to equally dedicate their time by creating special time for visiting the Fulanis residing in the forest in other to educate and sensitizes them on the importance of peacebuilding

Similarly, Christian cleric from northern Nigeria, Reverend Paul Elisha Ham appealed to individuals Non-Governmental Organisations and other corporate organization to always support the Muslim cleric with some assistance in other to enable him to continue spreading the gospel of peace throughout the Northern states in Nigeria

He also appealed to the Kaduna state government to support the Muslims cleric with security while urging the state government to include the nomadic Youths in skilled acquisition programme in the state.
