The Northern Nigeria Group (NNMG) has congratulated the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its citizens on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, describing the milestone as a moment for reflection and renewed commitment to the ideals of unity, peace and progress.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Convener of the group, Chief Jacob Edi Kakaki Bassange, said the anniversary underscores Nigeria’s resilience as a united nation despite decades of challenges that have tested its unity.

Chief Edi praised the courage and sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers and successive leaders who, he noted, laid the foundations for the nation’s endurance and progress. He also commended the everyday contributions of Nigerians whose perseverance and patriotism continue to sustain the spirit of the country.

The NNMG leader particularly acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold and visionary leadership aimed at prioritising Nigeria’s unity, stability and long-term development above political considerations.

“The President’s resolve to confront difficult national challenges reflects true statesmanship and his unshaken faith in the promise of a greater Nigeria,” Edi said.

Highlighting Nigeria’s diverse heritage as a source of strength rather than division, the group stressed that the values that have held the nation together over the past six and a half decades remain stronger than the forces seeking to tear it apart.

The group urged citizens to renew their commitment to the Nigerian project, remain united and purpose-driven, and work collectively towards building a nation that fulfils the dreams and aspirations of its founding fathers.

“Our diversity, resilience, and shared hope remain the essence of the Nigerian spirit and the driving force towards a brighter future,” the NNMG declared.

The group reaffirmed its confidence that with unity and shared purpose, Nigeria would continue to advance on the path of peace, progress and development.
