NSE: Market records first gain of the week

The domestic market recorded the first gain of the week on Wednesday as it closed in the positive after two consecutive days of loss.

 

The All-Share index gained 0.23% or 96.09 basis points to close at 41,147.72 basis points compared to Tuesday’s 41,051.63 points, while the market capitalization rose by 0.23 percent or N50 billion to close at N21,524 as against N21,474 on Tuesday.

 

The Exchange recorded 55 gainers as against 16 losers on Wednesday.

 

At the end of Wednesday’s trading, a total of 649.64 million shares valued at N4.61 billion were traded in 6,296 deals.

 

WAPCO led the gainers’ table with a gain of N2.00k to close at N26.50k followed by Ardova, which gained N1.75k to close at N19.75k, then Bocgas which gained N1.35k to close at N15.12k.

 

On the other hand, Guaranty lost 70k to close trading at N33.05k, while Mansard lost 17k to close at N2.06k.

 

Mutual Benefit dominated activity chart as it traded 52,106 million shares worth N28,652 million, followed by Transcorp with 51,653 million shares worth N66,166 million.
