The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Mr. Yusuf Yakubu has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his 4D foreign policy, which focuses on enhancing and revitalising Nigeria’s Soft Power Diplomacy.

Mr.Yakub made the commendations during a Media Session at the NTAC headquarters in Abuja, celebrating his two-year tenure while discussing the Agency’s significant accomplishments, challenges, and future aspirations.

Expressing his gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to lead, Mr. Yakub said that, “since his appointment on August 28, 2023, he has proactively implemented the President’s directives.”

The DG underscored the importance of 4D foreign policy – “Democracy, Demography, Diaspora, and Development,“in modernising NTAC.

He described the policy as a vital instrument for soft power diplomacy that has successfully facilitated the deployment of over 10,000 Nigerian experts to more than 40 countries over the past 38 years.

“Today, NTAC is thriving at an unprecedented level, largely due to the guiding framework of the President’s 4D foreign policy,” the DG stated.

Mr Yakub noted that fluctuations in currency values in 2024 had hindered deployments; however, with the President’s backing, the Corps managed to clear its debts and resume regular deployments.

“Since September 2023, we have maintained a steady deployment schedule of 2 to 3 missions every month,” he added, emphasising Nigeria’s consistent global presence,”he said.

Among the notable achievements, Mr Yakub said that “several Nigerian volunteers in The Gambia have ascended to prominent positions as Vice-Chancellors and Deputy Vice-Chancellors in top universities.”

This reflects how Nigeria’s dynamic workforce is not just being exported, but is actively contributing to global development,” he stated.

By October 2025, Mr. Yakub projected that the agency would have 450 volunteers actively in service, reaching 90% of its capacity.

Looking ahead, he outlined his vision to reposition NTAC as a pivotal center for soft power diplomacy and labor export. He explained that while volunteers continue to serve without charge under the Technical Aid Corps (TAC) program, the organisation is also seeking commercial opportunities to export skilled Nigerian labour in partnership with host nations and international entities, such as the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

Mr. Yakub cited Jamaica’s request for 400 paid professionals as evidence of the demand for Nigeria’s skilled workforce.

During the interactive session, he reiterated NTAC’s full alignment with the President’s foreign policy objectives.

“Our volunteers contribute to development overseas, and their interactions with Nigerians abroad reinforce the diaspora component. Our efforts are a tangible manifestation of the 4D vision,” Mr. Yakub affirmed.

The DG encouraged Nigerian youths to view NTAC as a platform for both community service and personal development.

“We are not just dispatching volunteers; we are cultivating leaders who will return to contribute to Nigeria’s growth,” he declared.

The media session concluded with group photographs, marking NTAC’s renewed commitment to service, accountability, and Nigeria’s standing in global soft power diplomacy.
