The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has launched a weekly fitness walk for its staff to enhance both physical and mental health, while improving productivity and overall workforce effectiveness.
The Director General, Mr. Yusuf Yakub conveyed the development through his Special Assistant for Media and Publicity, Mr. Nkem Anyata-Lafia, emphasizing that regular physical activity is essential for public servants to maintain sharpness, resilience, and efficiency.
During a 45-minute fitness walk at Abuja’s Jabi Lake Sports Field, Mr. Yakub highlighted “the importance of prioritising health despite the demands of daily work.”
He said; “We understand that physical fitness directly impacts our performance. Neglecting it risks both mental acuity and overall effectiveness.”
Mr. Yakub further said that “the new weekly exercise is aimed at encouraging staff to stay active, combat the effects of sedentary routines, and align with the objectives of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
To institutionalise the programme, the NTAC has set aside every Wednesday after work for the fitness walk, with exemptions only for those with medical conditions.
